Dubai Metro is useful for Gitex attendees

Thousands of people avoid driving and board the driverless train to the major tech show.

Outside the Dubai World Trade Centre and Expo Halls, where GITEX Global will take place, tourists flow in and out of the Max Metro Station.

Since the current Gitex Global 2022 technology exhibition started on Monday, hundreds of visitors have proved that the Dubai Metro is the most practical method to travel and go to significant events in Dubai.

The 42nd Gitex Global, promoted as the most significant technology exhibition in the world, has assembled 5,000 enterprises from more than 90 nationalities at the Dubai World Trade Center. The festival goes on until Friday. Prediction of the event to gather more than 100,000 will do by the time attendees from more than 100 nationalities.

Manu Panicker, an Indian ex-pat who works in business development, told Gulf News on Wednesday that “this year’s Gitex was the biggest one ever, topping even the pre-pandemic meetings.”

He added: “Using Dubai Metro is undoubtedly more convenient, and I don’t have to stress about seeking parking.” He stated, “he had previously given up his automobile and done so again this year to attend Gitex.”

There are no traffic concerns.

As to be predicted, the World Trade Centre station scene is crowded, especially in the early hours before Gitex opens and at noon when tens of thousands of guests, exhibitors, and staff call it a day.

According to Abir, a 21-year-old Tunisian ex-pat who recently obtained his degree in computer engineering, “it’s hectic but manageable.”

Dubai Metro security staff and support workers are present to regulate the flow of people entering and exiting the station. While trains arrive at three-minute intervals, to heed the signs, people are typically disciplined.

“I don’t have to worry about getting stranded in traffic because I use the Metro,” said Abir, who has been a regular public transit system since her university days.

Management of time

According to Santhosh Thangarasu, a strategic business executive with an electrical design cybersecurity company, “taking the Metro has also helped him better manage his time. I don’t know if I’ll be stuck on the road if I drive, but he said I could always schedule my travel time with Metro.”

“I dwell close to the Dubai-Sharjah border. I take the F24 feeder bus from my residence to the Sports complex station on the green line, change trains at Union Station, and continue through three more stations till arriving at Trade Centre.” “I spend around an hour going from my home to the Gitex site in total,” he added.

Journalists and photographers who cover Gitex are utilizing the Metro.

Filipina ex-pat freelance photographer Lailah Ongay has documented the technology show for the past five years. She said: “Even with all my backhoes, I still feel it more convenient employing the Metro than driving.”

Highway and Ministry Of transport have once again recommended the general people utilize the Dubai Metro when attending Gitex. Tuesday, RTA issued another reminder: Use the Metro Dubai to the World Trade Centre Station to reach GITEX 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre comfortably.

On Sunday, “they suggest that visitors arriving by a car park their cars at the Zaabeel Addendum of the Dubai Mall and that RTA public.” “Buses would instead take them to the Al Kifaf multi-story parking so they could transfer to the Metro at the Highest speed Metro Station and travel to the exhibition venue.” Metro timetable in Dubai On Monday through Thursday, the Metro (both Green and Red lines) are open from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. On Friday, from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.; on Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.; and on Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.
