The victim asked that the offender refund the money and provide her with Dh100,000 for the damages she suffered.
A young guy who tricked a lady out of Dh560,000 in an investment fraud got ordered to repay the money.
At the Abu Dhabi Civil Administrative Court, the complainant had filed a case against the defendant, demanding that he pay back the Dh560,000 he had wrongfully taken from her.
In addition, she asked for $100,000 in damages compensation.
The lady claimed in the complaint that the defendant enticed her via an internet platform. He persuaded her by claiming to know of a successful company in which she might invest.
Because the guy informed her that he had also invested in the same company, so the lady said she trusted him. She then sent Dh560,000 to the accused bank account so he could use the money to fund the venture.
The lady expected monthly returns on her investment in the company.
The lady said that after waiting for months, she could not get any returns on her investment. She tried to get in touch with him to request her earnings or get her money back.
Later, she realized the guy had conned her since he had not invested in the company.
The lady said, “she had previously accused the defendant in a criminal complaint and that the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court had found him guilty of fraud.”
After that, the lady sued him in civil court for unpaid wages and other damages.
The civil court judge issued an order requiring the defendant to refund the Dh560,000 he defrauded the lady after hearing from all parties.
The court denied the plaintiff’s request for compensation, pointing out that the criminal court had already awarded the guy a provisional settlement of Dh21,000 in the past. The plaintiff will be responsible for paying the defendant’s legal costs.
