The Dubai Court of Appeal affirmed the Court of First Instance’s decision to sentence a 32-year-old man to six months for extorting a woman and mailing her indecent family images of her.
According to a police probe, the victim revealed last April that “she was in love with him, while he blackmailed her and sought numerous activities from her during a video conference.” “She obeyed his demands as she imagined they would wed one day.” She added that she was surprised when she initially got the video clips on Whatsapp. The prisoner acknowledged capturing the images and videos while they were on the video call when she questioned him about them. He threatened to disseminate the indecent images to her father and friends unless she gave him Dh25,000. She gave him the money, but he still emailed the photographs.
