Dubai: Soon, UAE citizens will be able to submit their biometric information via their smartphones, which is essential when registering for an Emirates ID for the first time. The Federal Authority for Identification, Immigration, Taxes, and Maritime Security inaugurated the service at Gitex International 2022. (ICP) (ICP). Majed AlBlooshi, head of ICP’s Validation Gateway Section, tells Gulf News that “here at Gitex, we are introducing a new approach to collect your biometric information, where the applicant may take it using his or her mobile phone.” The services offered by the ICP’s smartphone application, “UAE ICP,” which is available for both Apple and Android devices, will be presented with the program that permits remote biometric information registration.
An applicant would merely have to scan their passport or the QR Code from their visa application, according to AlBlooshi. According to AlBlooshi, “the app will check your identity using facial recognition, and then it will educate you on how to gather your biometrics.” To ensure that all fingerprint data is collected, users must comply with the app’s instructions regarding how to put their fingers and the phone. Although Albalooshi is not announcing a definite launch date, he noted that clients would profit from the option to input their information through a smartphone application.
